I think the biggest issue in business in Australia today is customer service. I think we have all been on the end of a phone where we are asked by a computer voice to push one or two when all we want to do is to speak to a human voice!

Master of Ceremonies

The biggest mistake people make when planning a conference is they use either an internal Master of Ceremonies or a non professional Master of Ceremonies.

If I can say one thing to anyone planning a conference it is this. Please utilise the services of a professional Master of Cermonies. You could have the best line up of speakers and entertainment lined up and yet the emcee could absolutely ruin the entire evening.

A professional Master of Ceremonies knows how to keep an event moving and is able to think on their feet when curveballs are sent their way.

Take away the cringe factor, please use a professional Master of Ceremonies!

Motivational Speakers

The fact of the matter is that a person must motivate themselves but a trainer or speaker can certainly be the catalyst that motivates a person to do something positive for themselves.

I really think the term motivational speaker is a misnomer for this reason. I don't know the best term but maybe a catalyst speaker would be a better term?

Exclusive Speakers - A good thing for whom?

Exclusive speakers
Some bureaus tout the fact that they have 'exclusive' speakers. This may sound great but for whom does this really benefit?

Quite simply bureaus that have exclusive speakers are putting those 'exclusive' speakers forward much more often and in cases where another speaker may be more suitable. The incentive for the speaker is that they will be put forward much more frequently if they become exclusive.

At ASB, you receive non biased advice from us as we do not have exclusive speakers. In fact, it is not our job to find speakers a certain amount of work. Our job is to hold an in depth briefing process with you, the client, and match the brief by finding the most suitable speaker for your organisation and your event, regardless if the speaker is exclusive or not.

You are the client, not the speaker. Although we have great relationships with all of our speakers, it is our job to listen to your brief and suggest the best speakers for your event. We are not obligated to certain speakers and we don't have to 'push' them on our clients.
